The Mazak HCN-5000/50 marks a significant leap forward in the company's manufacturing capability, delivering unmatched stability, reduced non-cutting time, and heavy-duty cutting performance to their production floor.
Combining speed with 50-Taper power
While the standard Mazak HCN-5000 is renowned for high-speed versatility, GMG specifically selected the 50-taper spindle configuration (HCN-5000/50). This provides the massive torque and structural rigidity required for aggressive, heavy-duty machining of tough materials like steel and cast iron, without sacrificing the machine’s signature high-speed agile movements.

Featuring a specialized slanted X-axis design and linear roller guides across all axes, the machine delivers exceptional rigidity and precision. Workpieces are secured via robust cone-coupling table clamps, eliminating vibration and achieving superior surface finishes.
With rapid traverse rates of up to 60m/min and a lightning-fast tool-change time of just 2.6 seconds, theMazak HCN-5000/50 spends more time making chips and less time moving between tasks.
Multiple workpieces can be mounted onto large multi-surface tombstone fixtures, allowing operators to load parts on one pallet while the machine runs continuously on the other, dramatically reducing overall setup bottlenecks.
Advanced spindle thermal control circulates temperature-regulated cooling oil around the headstock and bearings, ensuring total accuracy over long production runs.
At the heart of the machine is the advanced MAZATROL SmoothG CNC system. The conversational programming interface allows the team at GMG to program complex setups quickly right at the machine, drastically minimising programming bottlenecks and getting new jobs running faster than ever before.
With the support of John Hart’s Queensland branch team, the Mazak HCN-5000/50 was seamlessly integrated into GMG’s operations and began making chips immediately. The investment positions Global Manufacturing Group to take on larger, more demanding contracts with absolute confidence in their accuracy and delivery timelines.
