Hydramech Engineering has invested in another John Hart automated machining cell to increase their production volumes.
Featuring a Mazak Integrex i-350H S multi-tasking machine paired with an Agile Modular CNC machine loading system, this automated machining cell is undergoing final installation and testing at Hydramech.
About Hydramech Engineering
Hydramech Engineering is a specialist repairer for mining machinery components and hydraulic cylinders, with a focus on the underground mining industry.
The company covers a wide range of tasks including general machining, repairs, refurbishment, and service exchange. Hydramech maintains one of the largest service exchange inventories in the Goldfields supporting Sandvik, Caterpillar, and Atlas Copco machinery.
Hydramech is based in West Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and boasts an extensive range of precision machining equipment from Mazak, including an automated machining cell featuring a Mazak Integrex j-200S and an Agile Flex 35D machine loading system.
Steve Nappy, Managing Director of Hydramech states: “I wanted to do more with the same, while upskilling my people. Adding automation to our process made sense and is proving to have substantial benefits for our business.”
The Mazak Integrex i-350H S multi-tasking machine
The Mazak Integrex i-350H S is a high-performance, multi-tasking machine designed for "Done-in-One" production, combining turning and milling with a second spindle (S) for maximum versatility.
The machine is capable of completing complex, multi-axis parts in a single setup, reducing fixture, tool, and handling times. Ideal for applications requiring high-precision and high-productivity, where reducing downtime is critical.
The Mazak Integrex i-350H S is designed to be more compact, with better accessibility for automation like robots and bar feeders.
The Mazak Integrex i-350H S is equipped with the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC system, which uses AI and machine learning for optimised performance and programming.

The Agile Modular machine loading system
The Agile Modular system features the new Agile Modular common platform that incorporates the robot, control system, AgileGo! HMI and robot controller on a common fabricated base unit to create a more compact cell.
The system includes two standard Agile Modular pallet docks and pallets for part infeed.
The safety enclosure, for the first time, includes part safety fence and part light curtains for better access and a more open architecture on the machine shop floor. In order to minimise the cell footprint with the use of light curtains, the robot speed and reach are restricted and controlled through the FANUC Dual Check Safety System (DCS).
The Agile Modular system is equipped with a FANUC R2000iC270F robot handling part weights up to 100kg, up to 340mm diameter, up to 600mm part length.
