Newcastle based Quarry Mining has invested in a new John Hart automated machining cell to stay at the forefront of Australian manufacturing.
Featuring a Mazak Integrex i-250H S multi-tasking machine paired with an Agile Flex 35D machine tending system, the automated cell is designed to deliver extended unmanned machining capability for Quarry Mining to manufacture a wide range of components for construction and mining.
The Mazak Integrex i-250H S multi-tasking center delivers the highest level of single-setup part-production versatility of a high-powered turning center and full-function machining center combined. This machine configuration has a second turning spindle (S) for DONE IN ONE machining, minimising fixtures, tools, handling and non-cut time.
Furthermore, the machine enclosure, tool magazine and auto jaw changer have all been optimised for automation.
The Mazak Integrex i-250H S is equipped with Mazak’s MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC, the next generation of SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY.
In addition to the conversational programming power, the MAZATROL SmoothAi control leverages the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to power innovative tools like SMOOTH Ai Spindle, SMOOTH CAM Ai, MAZATROL TWINS and more.
The Agile Flex 35D, configured as a 3-Drawer machine loading system, handles parts up to Ø65mm x 200mm long, with the optional top pallet option for parts up to 300mm long.
The Flex is equipped with the latest generation Agile end-of-arm-tool and datum station for accurate part loading into the Mazak multi-tasking machine.
The system works with a Mazak supplied auto-door function and the ethernet/IP based robot interface to the machine tool features a work number search function.
The system has a new DUAL Safety zone area scanner with auto restart function. Operators can now enter the robot pause zone and directly access the CNC panel, and on exiting the pause zone the robot will automatically continue to run without the need for a system reset and restart.
