Mazak has added two new models to the Mazak QRX turning center series.
The new Mazak QRX-50 SG and Mazak QRX-50MY SG are tailstock spec models, offering simultaneous machining with upper and lower turrets for efficient mass-production machining of shaft shapes.
The new tailstock spec models compliment the two existing second spindle spec models to deliver the speed, precision, and versatility required for high-volume production of small, intricate parts - all in a compact and affordable design.
The two existing twin-turret and twin-spindle models offer simultaneous left and right hand machining for efficient mass-production machining of bar shapes.

With compact floor dimensions of 3,000 mm x 2,000 mm, the QRX series maintains impressive throughput and reduced cycle times.
A modular design uses identical upper and lower turrets, and left and right spindles in the twin-spindle models to maximize cost efficiency and return on investment.
Engineered for precision, the Mazak QRX series machines accommodate a maximum bar diameter of 52 mm with and feature a slant bed design for rigidity and chip evacuation.
Spindles operate with 20 hp (15 kW) motors at speeds up to 6,000 rpm. The 12-station, 24-tool-position upper and lower turrets feature 7.0 hp (5.3 kW) rotary tool spindles capable of 6,000 rpm for versatile machining performance.
Tool holding on the Mazak QRX series uses the BMT (Basic Metric Tooling) 45 interface, enabling fast, precise tool changes and optimized performance. The interface supports static and driven tools and accepts radial, axial, and angular holders. Tools can also rotate 180 degrees for secondary operations—eliminating unnecessary tool changes and improving efficiency.
The Mazak QRX series is equipped with Mazak’s MAZATROL SmoothG CNC control, which supports both conversational programming and EIA-ISO G-code formats. Featuring a large 19-inch touch screen and 3D model-based graphical interface, the SmoothG integrates advanced programming functions to deliver high-speed, high-accuracy machining with simplified workflows.
