The new Mazak QRX-50MSY CNC turning center for enhanced high-volume production
The Mazak QRX-50MSY CNC turning center is a compact and versatile machine, designed to provide rapid, versatile performance for high-volume production of small, intricate parts.
The Mazak QRX-50MSY combines milling capability, a second turning spindle and Y-axis functionality for small parts such as EV input shafts, mid-shafts, and valve fittings.
The QRX-50MSY is the latest adaptation of Mazak’s HQR Series two-turret/two-spindle CNC turning center with similar milling and Y-axis functions. It boasts a 15% smaller footprint with floor dimensions of 3,000 mm × 2,000 mm while maintaining throughput and reduced cycle times. Additionally, the Mazak QRX-50MSY’s modular design uses common machine components such as identical left and right spindles, upper and lower turrets, and upper and lower carrier drives. This modular nature helps keep machine costs down to maximize a manufacturer’s return on investment when producing small parts.
The Mazak QRX-50MSY features a maximum bar diameter capacity of 52 mm with a 6" diameter chuck and incorporates a slant-bed design. The main and second spindles use 20-hp (15 kW) motors that provide maximum speeds of 6,000 rpm. The 12-station upper and lower turrets feature 7.0-hp (5.3 kW) rotary tool spindles that offer maximum speeds of 6,000 rpm.
The machine’s tool holding utilises a basic metric tooling (BMT) 45 interface for fast, precise tool changes and optimised performance. The interface uses static and driven tools and supports a wide range of toolholder types, including radial, axial and angular toolholders. The BMT 45 interface enables tools to be rotated 180 degrees for use on second operations, eliminating the need for tool changes between operations.
The Mazak QRX-50MSY is equipped with a work unloader over the top of the second spindle that users can equip with a gripper or parts bucket to remove parts from the machine. An auto parts catcher mounted on the lower turret catches parts at the second spindle head or positioned beneath the main spindle, and it can also accommodate end-of-bar remnants.
The machine comes standard with the Mazatrol SmoothG CNC that includes Mazatrol conversational programming as well as EIA-ISO G-code programming capabilities. The control provides ease of operation with its 19" touch screen and 3D model-based graphical user interface for intuitive operation similar to smartphones and tablets. It also incorporates a wide variety of advanced programming functions for high-speed, high-accuracy machining performance.

Mazak drives results with innovation at DISCOVER 2025
More than 1,800 visitors from across North America joined Mazak for DISCOVER 2025. The event included the broadest machine tool display in the United States and delivered Mazak’s latest innovations to every attendee.
Mazak demonstrated technologies to suit machine shops of all sizes and workflows of all types. On top of having over 30 Mazak machine tools on display with live, real-world cutting demonstrations, Mazak also hosted keynote speakers and panel discussions with insights and advice from industry experts.
From start to finish, DISCOVER 2025 made Mazak the place to be in October 2025.
