Three new Mazak CNC machine tools for Simplicity Australia
With a staff of almost 100 people and based in the south-east Queensland town of Dalby, about 200kms west of Brisbane, Simplicity Australia is a renowned manufacturer of agricultural machinery, specialising in air seeders and seeding equipment with a reputation for solid quality in Australia and international markets.
Simplicity Australia’s range covers a comprehensive line-up of seeding and tillage equipment, from linkage and trailed seeders with liquid options, to seeding kits as well as tined and disc opener options.
Simplicity Australia might have begun life in a backyard shed, but today the company sets an example for "state of the art" manufacturing with the addition of three new Mazak CNC machine tools, sowing seeds for greater manufacturing capability.
Mazak MTV-655/80
Designed with quality, efficiency, ease of operation and safety in mind, the Mazak MTV-655/80 features a high-torque spindle and high-rigidity machine construction ideal for heavy-duty machining.
This vertical machining center is equipped with a robust #50 taper spindle that provides a top speed of 6000 rpm, 25 hp, and maximum torque of 759Nm to deliver high efficiency machining of parts from a wide variety of materials. Plus, the column-feed machine design with wide machining area makes this machine easy and safe to operate.
Part of the MTV Series, which includes machines in a range of sizes and capacities, the MTV-655/80 handles parts up to 2,000 x 650 x 650 mm.
Mazak Integrex i-450H S
The Mazak Intregrex i-450H S, which features two turning spindles and a milling spindle headstock for Done In One part production, accommodates a chuck size of 12” and sports a new extended Y-axis stroke of 300 mm and X-axis of 695 mm for maximum part diameters of 670 mm. The main chuck is 3,300 rpm, while the second chuck is 4,000 rpm, and the distance between centers measures 2,500 mm. The milling spindle comes standard as 12,000 rpm (24/22 kW) with a 20,000 rpm (24/22 kW) version offered as an option.
Within the Mazatrol SmoothAi control, Mazak’s Mazatrol Twins software allows machine shops to create, on a PC, synchronized digital twins of real machines on their shop floors. The digital twins software solutions provide highly efficient machine operation through Smooth Project Manager that ensures efficient job setups and Smooth CAM Ai for an open and interactive interface for CAD/CAM software packages.
For fully optimized machining operations, the AI technologies within the new Mazatrol SmoothAi control make for fast and easy programming, control spindle speed for reduced vibration and boost thermal stability. These Mazak technologies include Solid Mazatrol, which allows users to automatically generate programs from 3D part models; Smooth Ai Spindle, which automatically optimizes spindle speed based on sensor feedback to minimize machining vibration for superior part surface finishes; and Ai Thermal Shield, which adapts to and learns from environmental changes to control the effects of heat on machining accuracy.
Mazak Integrex j-200S
The Mazak Integrex j-200S multi-tasking machine brings maximum value, precision and throughput to the production of complex medium-sized workpieces. In fact, it makes use of two turning spindles and a milling spindle to productively process parts complete in single setups.
In addition to its cost-effective, yet high-performance turning and angular milling capabilities, the machine also offers automatic tool changing, a large machining area and convenient operation to meet a wide variety of production requirements.
