To the inexperienced technician faulty components on a PCB can be traced and replaced. The PCB can be re-installed and the Machine Tool should work .at least for long enough for them to get paid!
At John Hart we have years of experience and know that there will be a number of other components, either on that board or on adjacent PCBs that will have suffered stress and will fail prematurely if not changed. We also know that mains power fluctuations, fans and filters, parameter settings, electronic trim-pots and other test procedures and checks should be carried out before a refurbished PCB can be safely re-installed.
At John Hart we always seek to understand the root cause of the component failure so that we can ensure on-going reliability of the machine tool.
It is here that the partnership between our Electronic Technician and our field Service Engineers delivers a substantial benefit to the customer.
PCB and Electronic component Life
Machine tool electronics are designed to provide a long service life. Over time electronic components fail due to:
- Mains Power Supply fluctuations
- over-heating
- over-stressing as a result of a mechanical or a related electrical problem
- normal bath-tub component failure.
Factory Contacts
At John Hart we dont just rely on electrical manuals or generic "equivalents" but have access to factory information, procedures and parts through our resident Mazak Engineer who is in contact with Mazak, Japan. This allows us to get the very latest information and advice to ensure that your re-built PCB will perform.
Quality
The ERF has dedicated workshop, with test controllers where repaired PCBs and modules are run, (under load), for 24 hours or more. Once tested the modules are packed in tamper proof packaging and are ready to be shipped.
At John Hart we do not recommend that customers install PCBs, modules or software, or swap modules between machines. Because of the requirement to undertake pre-checks on associated PCBs and electrical modules and common requirement to re-trim related settings and check or adjust machine parameters we require that PCBs, electronic and electrical modules are refitted by our trained Service Engineers.
Warranty & On-going Maintenance
When re-fitted by our Service Engineers, refurbished electrical, electronic and software modules should give long term reliable operation and are warranted* in accordance with company policy.
At the John Hart Electronic Repair Facility we do more than replace a few components. We provide a complete repair by using:
- Factory parts and specifications
