Accessories: Zoller "Venturion" - Modular tool presetting system

A new modular system for tool presetting, measurement and inspection, the Zoller “Venturion” is based on a wide selection of high-technology hardware, advanced software and inbuilt precision.

The distortion free, specially hardened, light metal alloy frame has a measuring range of 450 to 1400mm vertical and diameter 350 to 1000mm horizontal, with repeat accuracies as fine as ±0.002mm, positioning to ±0.001mm and setting accuracies of less than 2µ.

The “Venturion” range of machines can be closely optimised, with features suited to any customer's individual needs.

Among many options that can be specified are:

• A tailstock mechanism for holding reamers between centres.
• The Zoller induction system for heat-shrink fitting and removal of tools.
• Automatic TRIBOS polygon clamping technology.
• Swivelling incident light camera assembly for tool inspection.
• Automatic tool identification
• Additional 'centre height' CCD camera for contact less measuring and setting.

A 'foolproof' measuring function gives the user automatic identification and measurement of any standard cutting tool type at a press of a button.

The Zoller 'pilot 3.0' software, as well as providing all the functions expected for optimum machine control, can be used as a tool for 'reverse engineering'.

Other practical possibilities include the use of the 'Delta' measuring program for setting reamers, using the snap gauge or oversize principle; a 'Metis' software module for fully-automatic measurement and inspection of ground and spark-eroded cutting tools and 'in screen' software for contact less measuring and the setting of tools to centre height.

Ergonomically the new venturion is completely different its predecessor and comes with full 180° access to the work area.

The keyboard/display console is mounted on wheels so that it can be positioned to suit the operator's requirements and has a variable-height adjustment incorporated to ensure that easy viewing is possible.
